Wentzville Middle School Communications Arts teacher Cathy McCandless has been recognized with the 2011 ABLE Excellence in Education Award for middle school teachers in St. Charles County. She found out in a surprise presentation during the annual WMS student awards ceremony, and was presented the plaque by a former student.

“I feel really honored that people went out of their way to recognize a teacher, and I feel very humbled,” said McCandless. “It’s just wonderful and it’s also great for WMS, I love teaching there, it’s a great place to be!” The St. Charles County Alliance for Business, Learning, and Education (ABLE) was created to foster workforce readiness and educational programs for K-12 students in our community.

The annual award honors excellence in the teaching profession, and recognizes outstanding professionals who play a vital role in making a difference in the lives of our children and community. One of the goals of ABLE is to raise public awareness of the exceptional quality of teaching students are receiving in St. Charles County.
