Wentzville Firefighters battle two structure fires and an over-turned tanker in 5 days

The Wentzville Fire Protection District has had three major calls in a recent five day period. Wentzville firefighters responded to two 2-alarm residential fires and an over-turned gasoline tanker over a 5 day period.
Wentzville fire units responded to a call on Saturday, September 18th, 2010 at 9:30 pm, for a report of a residential fire at 29 Edenshire Court in Dardenne Prairie. Arriving fire units found a two story Duplex residence with the roof of one unit having fire showing.
Emergency units from Wentzville, O’Fallon, Lake St. Louis and Cottleville responded to the call. Thirty-nine firefighters operated on the scene to contain the fire to the original unit and limited the damage to the adjacent residences. The fire was placed under control at 10:28 pm. An investigation of the fire scene determined that cause of the fire was accidental from a lightning strike to the roof.
On Monday, September 20th, 2010 at 11:43 am, fire units responded to a report of a motor vehicle accident involving an over-turned vehicle. The location was on Highway N at Schaper Road in Foristell. The first arriving unit reported that the vehicle involved was a semi-tanker truck over-turned on its top in the ditch with a load of gasoline.
The St. Charles County Hazardous Materials Team was dispatched to assist Wentzville fire units on the scene along with units from New Melle, Wright City, Warrenton, O’Fallon, Central County, Lake St. Louis, Cottleville and St. Charles. The incident was stabilized and the gasoline off loaded to another tanker truck. The scene was cleared and Highway N re-opened at 10:30 pm.
The last major call was on Wednesday, September 22nd, 2010 at 8:14 pm, for a report of a residential fire at 137 Townview Drive in Flint Hill. Arriving fire units were confronted with a garage fully involved in fire extending in to the attic of a single story residence. The firefighters aggressively attacked the fire with hoselines and contained it to the garage area.
There was extensive smoke damage throughout the structure with fire damage to the roof/attic area next to the garage. The fire was placed under control at 9:46 pm. Fire units from Lake St. Louis, O’Fallon, New Melle, Wright City and Lincoln County assisted on the fire. The Cause of the fire is under investigation.
The Wentzville Fire District covers 88 square miles of Western St. Charles County and includes the cities of Wentzville, Foristell, Flint Hill, and Josephville; as well as large portions of Lake St. Louis, Dardenne Prairie and O’Fallon.
