Wentzville Fire Protection District holds recognition banquet

On Sat., Nov. 1, the Wentzville Fire Protection District honored its members at the district’s 26th Annual Safety and Service Awards Banquet held at the Motel 6 Banquet Center.
Fire Chief Randy Bornhop opened the banquet with a welcome to the current and retired members and their families in attendance. This annual event brings together the members of the department to recognize the years of service to the district, life saving awards and community service.
The awards for length of service are broken down by years in 3, 5, 10, 15 20, etc. increments. This year, the 5 years of service awards went to FF Nick Box, FF Kirkland Broeder, FF Eric Hakenewerth, FF Dan Oestereich, FF Josh Riebe and FF Shelby Wilcox.
The 10 year awards went to FF Fred Hohenshell, CP Ryan House, CP Jeff Preis and CP Dave Schmidt. FF Kevin Mathke and CP Steve Hayes were presented an award for 15 years of service, while FF Mark Dwyer received an award for 20 years.
Along with the service awards, 4 crews were presented life saving awards for CPR saves during the year.
The last award was for the Clinton E. Prinster Memorial Award. This award is given to a person, group or business that has been a great help to the Wentzville Fire Protection District and the community it serves. The 2008 Clinton E. Prinster Award was given to Jack and Kaye Asher for their over 70 years plus years of service to not only the Wentzville Fire Protection District, but to the Fire Service across the State of Missouri.
While members of the Fire District, Jack and Kaye held many positions with the Firefighters Association of Missouri: from board member to historian. Jack and Kaye Asher raised a family in Wentzville and are members of the St. Patrick’s Church in Wentzville.
The Wentzville Fire District covers 88 square miles of Western St. Charles County and includes the cities of Wentzville, Foristell, Flint Hill and Josephville; as well as large portions of Lake Saint Louis, Dardenne Prairie and O’Fallon.
