The Student Councils (STUCO) of both Timberland and Holt High Schools have been elected as Officers for 2011-2012 in the Gateway District of the Missouri Association of Student Councils.

The Gateway District is open to all public and private middle, junior and senior high schools in St. Louis County, St. Louis City, St. Charles, and Jefferson County. During the annual fall convention schools campaign for office for the following school year and use skits, election presentations and creative campaign materials to garner votes from other Student Councils.

For the second time in four years District members elected the Timberland STUCO as President of the District, and they will host the Gateway Convention at the school next year. Holt was also elected Vice President of the District, and will assist Timberland with the Convention.

“I’m very proud of my STUCO that we’ll be able to show off the many talents of our members,” said Timberland STUCO President senior Shelby Zytko. “At the same time it’s a little sad because all of the seniors will have graduated, but you can bet a lot of us will come back for the Convention!”

In addition, Timberland STUCO advisor Jim Andrzejewski was elected as the 2011 Gateway Advisor of the Year by his peers.

“It’ nice to be recognized, but I have to give the credit to my students, because they are the ones that work so hard.”

Last week almost 1,000 area students attended the 2010 Gateway District Conference at Hazelwood Central High School.
