THE PAJAMA GAME hits Wentzville

Holt High School Theater is producing the Broadway musical, THE PAJAMA GAME, November 19, 20 and 21 at 7:00 p.m. This theater classic with a book by George Abbott and Richard Bissell and music and lyrics by Richard Adler and Jerry Ross is based on the novel “7 ½ Cents” by Richard Bissell. The original 1954 production of THE PAJAMA GAME won the Tony Award for best musical and the 2006 revival of the show won the Tony Award for best revival of a musical.

Set in and around the Sleep Tite Pajama Factory in Cedar Rapids, the story follows the new factory superintendent Sid Sorokin (David Lemon) and his dealings with the labor union as they press for a 7 ½ cent raise. He falls in love with Babe Williams (Abby Maestas) who happens to be the union spokesperson.

Coaxed by the time-obsessed foreman Hines (Blake Brinkley) Sid is forced to fire Babe when she stands up for her fellow workers and causes a crisis in the shop. Gladys (Carlisle Garland), secretary to the controlling factory owner Mr. Hasler (Dan Hayward), is Sid’s only hope for an ally in town who can help him through the struggle. Together they work for a solution to hopefully get everyone what they want.

Also featured in the show as office personnel, union reps, factory workers and others are: Brad Baker, Luke Beussink, Peter Billing, Devonne Broadley, Chloe Buckman, Jimmy Cambron, Mandy Clevenger, Cody Cole, Cale Conrad, Jessica Ellis, Parker Gleason, Emily Hampton, Alexis Hitt, Sarah Hoover, Courtney Kohl, Nicholas Lanham, Erica Loesche, Lauren Maag, Kathleen Mertz, Andrew Milhous, Wendi Milhous, Margaret Osler, Cayla Patterson, Conner Patterson, Alex Payeur, Jenny Payeur, Alex Rosa, Jon Russell, Brenden Schaefer, Andrew Sperry, Katie Steckel, Shayne Swanner, Joss Todisman, Jazmin Velez-Marillo and Brenna Whitehurst. The production is led by the stage management team of Samantha Simms and Ryan Biggs.

THE PAJAMA GAME score offers the memorable theater standards “Hey There,” “Hernando’s Hideaway,” “I’m Not at All in Love,” and many more. General admission seating each evening is $5.00 for adults and $4.00 for students.
