The Holt High School Student Council (STUCO) is doing its part to help new students feel welcome at their new school.
Holt has over 100 transfer students this year, and each and every one received a hand-made invitation to the 2nd annual “root beer social.” The event was held on the patio during lunch hours, and was designed to give new students a chance to make new friends and learn about extracurricular activities and groups like STUCO.
“I thought it was neat, I was excited to get the chance to meet a lot of new people,” said Karlie, a freshman transfer student. “It’s been really easy adjusting to a new school, and I am interested in a lot of the after-school activities.”
The Holt Student Council is responsible for fundraising and organizing for many school events, including the homecoming parade and dance.
Cindy Berti, a counselor at Holt, is in her third year as STUCO sponsor and she understands how difficult the transition can be for students. “It’s a chance to give the new students some school spirit wear, make them feel more at home, and welcome them into the Holt family!”
