Holt High School presents The Miser

Wentzville Holt High School will present The Miser at 7:00 p.m. on March 4, 5 and 6. This classic Moliere comedy features the talents and stagecraft of 35 Holt students.

Harpagon (Dan Hayward), an elderly miser, has made an arrangement with the local matchmaker Frosine (Jessica Ellis) to marry the lovely, young Mariane (Wendi Milhous) in order to get a handsome dowry. However, unknown to him is the promise of marriage Mariane has made to Harpagon’s son Cleante (Andrew Sperry).

In addition, his household also holds the secret of his daughter Elise (Carlysle Garland). She is planning to marry Valere (Austin Gerlt) who is posing as a servant in Harpagon’s house until he can prove his noble heritage.

All of Harpagon’s greediness and confusion make for a madcap series of trials that result in slapstick fights, wild chases and outrageous cases of mistaken identity.

Other actors features in the production as confused servants, a local banking official, a wealthy merchant and the city law officer are Keifer Beem, Luke Beussink, Peter Billing, Jimmy Cambron, Alexis Hitt, Kegan Lusk, Chelsea Mowery and Alec Noakes. The production manager for the show is Samantha Simms.
