Wentzville, MO
Holt High School in Wentzville was placed on lockdown early this morning after a man was seen with a gun.
At about 7:15 this morning, a man was seen walking near the tennis courts on the high school campus. A teacher who saw the man immediately notified the school office and the Principal contacted Wentzville Police.
At the recommendation of the Wentzville Police, Wentzville Middle School was also placed on lockdown, and students arriving at the Heritage campus were moved to a safe location.
It was determined that the man was an off duty law enforcement officer who was at the school to check on his child.
The lockdown was lifted about 7:35am and a normal school schedule resumed.
Principal John Waters notified parents with an email describing the circumstances and praised the staff and police for their quick actions.
