A to Z Animal Adventures is a new book of poems by Jud Miner that features the illustrations of Frontier Middle School student Jessica Greer. The 12-year-old daughter of Mark and Eileen Greer of O’Fallon went to a children’s writing workshop facilitated by Miner back in 2007 at a local bookstore.

Jessica shared some of her illustrations with the author and he was so impressed by what he saw that he asked her to compile some drawings for a book of children’s poems that he had written. The two teamed up and over the course of the next three years completed the book which is now available in two versions on Amazon.com and stlbooks.com.

“It feels pretty amazing,” said Jessica. “It’s almost unreal to think that it has finally happened and I am a published illustrator!”

Jessica said she worked on the drawings in her spare time on the weekends and over school breaks. Jessica’s parents say that she has enjoyed drawing since she was very young.

“We are extremely proud of Jessica’s innate illustrating talents, as well as her ability to take a project of this significance and see it through,” said Mrs. Greer. “It has been a real treat hearing the feedback and compliments on Jessica and the book since it was published.”

In addition to art, Jessica also enjoys running, swimming, bicycling, singing, the outdoors, spending time with friends and reading. She is a member of the St. Charles Youth Choir, ran on the FMS Cross Country team last fall and plans to try out for the FMS Track Team in the spring. Jessica is also involved in the coed branch of the Boy Scouts known as Venturing.
