Wentzville, MO
The Wentzville Fire Protection District will be holding a ceremony to commemorate the eighth anniversary of the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001. All citizens of our community and the surrounding area are invited.
The ceremony will be held at the Fire District’s Headquarters Station #1 at 209 West Pearce Boulevard in Wentzville on Friday, September 11, 2009 at 8:45 a.m. The ceremony will remember those lost on 9/11 in New York City, Washington D.C. and in Pennsylvania.
The firefighters also remember those lost in the war on terrorism in Afghanistan and Iraq. The ceremony will follow the time line of the attacks on 9/11/01. This will be followed by a few words from our invited guests from the City of Wentzville, St. Charles County Ambulance District and St. Charles County Sheriff’s Department and the Wentzville Fire District. The ceremony will conclude with the reciting of the Soldier’s Prayer, EMS Prayer, Police Office’s Prayer and the Firefighter’s Prayer.
The firefighters and staff of the Wentzville Fire Protection District will also be remembering the 343 fallen firefighters of the FDNY on Sunday, September 13, 2009 at the “Thrill of the Hill” soapbox derby race. The fire district’s soapbox car will be racing down the hill along with other cars sponsored by local businesses for fun. The car is fire engine red with flames and is dedicated to the memory of all fallen firefighters. This event is open to children 8 years and older between 55 to 150 pounds and 4 to 6 feet tall.
