Celebration of King’s life and legacy
January 18, 2010
Wentzville, MO
Wentzville area residents are encouraged to come together and celebrate the life and legacy of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. at 7 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 18 at Immanuel Lutheran Church. The event is free.
Keynote speaker will be Pastor B.T. Rice from New Horizon Church in St. Louis and a musical presentation will be performed by the Church on the Rock Choir. Refreshments will be served following the event.
“Dr. King’s courage and dedication to affect positive change in our country are inspiring” said Wentzville Mayor Paul Lambi. “We are all richer as a result of what he did.”
The coordinator for the celebration is Barbara Love, owner of Barb’s Touch of Class Fashions & Beauty Supplies in Wentzville.
“Most Martin Luther King Day celebrations are held during the day when a lot of people are at work and can’t attend,” said Love. “A few years ago we switched to an evening celebration and have had many people tell us since then how much they appreciate being able to attend.”
Immanuel Lutheran Church is located at 317 West Pearce Boulevard in Wentzville. For more information, call Immanuel Lutheran Church at 636-327-4416, Mayor Lambi’s office at 636-327-5101 or Barbara Love at 314-591-8468.
