Bright Flight Scholars

The Wentzville School District has announced that 35 seniors from Holt and Timberland high schools have qualified as “Bright Flight” scholars this year, a substantial increase over 2009.
Bright Flight is the Missouri Department of Higher Education (MDHE) academic scholarship program that awards scholarships to the top 3% of the state’s high school seniors as determined by their ACT and SAT composite scores. This year, a score of 31 or above on the ACT or an SAT equivalent score of 790 or above on critical reading and 780 or above on math qualifies a student for Bright Flight.
“We are very proud of our students, and this is a positive trend,” said Dr. Terry Adams, Superintendent. “We have increased our rigor at the high school level, adding more Advanced Placement classes in each of the past three years, and students are benefiting with higher test scores.”
The scholarships can only be used at approved Missouri institutions, and are intended to encourage top-ranked high school seniors to attend college in Missouri, according to the MDHE website.
