Anika Piorkowski, a senior at Holt High School in the Wentzville School District, has committed to run track for Lipscomb University in Nashville, Tennessee.
“It’s a small, southern, Christian University with a lot of charm, but it’s still D-1 competition,” said Anika, “everyone is very friendly and the small classes mean you get a lot of individual attention from the instructors.”
With her parents, Paul and Jodi, at her side, Anika signed her NCAA National Letter of Intent on Feb. 4 at Holt High School. Anika was named to the Gateway Athletic Conference All Academic Team in 2006, 2007 and 2008.
In 2007, she was named to the GAC First Team in the 4x100, 4x200 and 4x400 relays, Second Team in the 200 meter dash, All District in the 100 meters and voted Most Valuable Sprinter at Holt High School. In 2008, she received GAC Honorable Mention in both the 100 and 200 meter dash.
Anika also takes an active leadership role in several student organizations, serving as President of the local chapter of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and as the Vice President of the Student Council.
