St. Peters
On Dec. 31, 2008 at approximately 1:40 a.m., the St. Peters Police Department received a 911 call from a resident on Rachel Markilynn Court, informing the dispatcher that an unknown male was attempting to break into his residence.
When the suspect saw the victim, he fled the area and entered a dark-colored truck that was parked nearby.
St. Peters Police Officer T. Scherder arrived on the scene and saw a black 2001 Ford F-150, which matched the victim’s description, exiting the area.
Officer Scherder conducted a traffic stop and arrested the driver of the vehicle for Attempt Burglary 1st after receiving a description from the victim.
The suspect was identified as: Justin C. Hemmer, a 27-year-old white male from the 1300 block of War Bonnet Drive in O’Fallon.
Hemmer was also charged with Burglary 1st in the 200 block of Timothy Williams Court (located next to Rachel Markilynn) in which entry was made through an unlocked window. The items taken from that burglary were later recovered in Hemmer’s vehicle.
The St. Charles Prosecuting Attorney’s Office issued warrants for two counts of Burglary 1st, with a $20,000 bond (no 10% authorized).
Hemmer is currently being held at St. Charles County Jail.
