Interstate 70 accident sends one to hospital

On Jan. 13, at about noon, Elizabeth A. Congleton, 18, of O’Fallon was heading westbound on Interstate 70 near Mid Rivers Mall Drive in a 1995 Hyundai Accent.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Congleton began slowing in an attempt to pull to the right shoulder of the road.
Also heading westbound was Lois M. Lane, 73, of O’Fallon, driving a 1994 Pontiac Grand Prix. Lane failed to notice Congleton slowing. The front of the Grand Prix struck the rear of the Hyundai.
Congleton suffered moderate injuries and was taken to St. Joseph Hospital West by St. Charles County Ambulance.
Both vehicles suffered extensive damage. Congleton and Lane were wearing seat belts.
