The Homestead Preservation Credit applies to those who have paid property taxes in 2005, 2006 and 2007 and whose property taxes increased by more than 5 percent in 2007 from 2006. If married, one spouse must be at least 65 and the other spouse must be at least 60 by Jan. 1 of 2008. Also, adjusted gross income must be less than $77,323. The Homestead Preservation Credit Program is also available to those who are 100 percent disabled.
