The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Department is reporting that as of 11:00 a.m. March 19, David M. Rocklage is still at large. The Sheriff’s Office is coordinating efforts with multiple law enforcement agencies in Missouri and Illinois to apprehend him.

The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Department states:
“The law enforcement net is widening thus systematically drying up Rocklage’s resources and his ability to conceal himself, according to investigators. Investigators are urging Rocklage to phone the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office to negotiate his safe return to custody.

Rocklage is a 12 time convicted felon. His criminal history includes assaulting law enforcement, distribution of a control substance and an escape from St. Louis police custody in 2005. In light of new information, Rocklage is believed to be suicidal and desperate. This creates a new degree of concern for law enforcement and the safety of the public.

If spotted, the public should not make contact with Rocklage but rather call their local law enforcement agency or the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office at 636-528-6100.

Rocklage is identified as a light-skinned black male, approximately 5’6” and 155 lbs, and has several tattoos on his chest and back, including tribal work on his neck.”

Prisoner escapes from hospital in St. Charles

March 18, 2009

On Sat., March 14 David M. Rocklage, 25, of St. Peters was arrested and was held for the distribution of a controlled substance (cocaine). While in custody on Monday, March 16, Rocklage complained of chest pain and was transported to St. Joseph Hospital in St. Charles for observation.

Around 9:00 p.m. on Tues., March 17 Rocklage broke free of his restraints while eating dinner and locked himself into his bathroom. Rocklage was able to crawl through the rafter until he reached a vertical firewall; he then dropped through the ceiling tiles, six patient rooms down the hall.

The Corrections Officer observed Rocklage running from the patient’s room and towards a stairwell exit and pursued him. While attempting to apprehend Rocklage, the Corrections Officer deployed his Taser at point blank range. The blast door of the Taser prevented the darts from penetrating Rocklage and entangled both of them with deployment wire. Consequently, the Taser shocked both the Corrections Officer and Rocklage.

During the struggle, Rocklage attempted to forcibly remove the Corrections Officer’s handgun, placing the Corrections Officer in a fight for his life. Both fought through a stairwell door when Rocklage was able to escape out the hospital’s entrance. The Corrections Officer pursued Rocklage out of St. Joseph Hospital until he lost sight of the subject.

St. Charles Police Department and surrounding municipalities are actively searching for the subject.

Rocklage is identified as a light-skinned black male, approximately 5’6” and 155 lbs. and has several tattoos on his chest and back including tribal work on his neck.

Anyone with information on Rocklage’s whereabouts should call the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Department at 636-528-6100.
