Wet conditions contribute to accident

On Tuesday, Oct. 13, Heidi N. Fairvanks, 31, from St. Charles, was driving a 2005 Buick Rendezvous eastbound on Highway 94, west of Friedens. Shaun K. Hagan, 22, of St. Peters, was traveling behind Fairvanks in a 2004 Chrysler Pacifica.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Shontay L. Austell, 33, of St. Charles, was traveling too fast for the wet conditions in a 1995 Ford Explorer. As Fairvanks and Hagan were slowing for an electrical signal, the front of the Explorer struck the rear of the Pacifica. The force of that impact caused the Pacifica to strike the Rendezvous.
Austell suffered minor injuries and was taken to St. Joseph Hospital in St. Charles by St. Charles County Ambulance.
All drivers were wearing seatbelts during the accident.
