On Friday, Aug. 21, a three-vehicle accident occurred on the Blanchette Bridge, sending two to the hospital.

At about 7:10 p.m., Kate M. Meier, 71, of Chesterfield, was stopped due to heavy traffic in a 2006 Chrysler 300 westbound on Interstate 70 on the Blanchette Bridge.

A 2004 Chrysler Town and Country, driven by Derseh Seneshaw, 47, of St. Louis, was heading the same direction and slowing because of traffic.

James S. Long, 57, of Hazelwood, was also heading westbound, driving a 1991 Chevrolet Astro Van.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the van struck the rear of the vehicle driven by Seneshaw, causing that vehicle to strike the rear of the Chrysler 300.

Seneshaw suffered moderate injuries and was taken to St. Joseph Medical Center by St. Charles County Ambulance.

Meier suffered minor injuries and was also taken to St. Joseph Medical Center by St. Charles County Ambulance.

All three drivers were wearing seatbelts during the accident.
