Yesterday afternoon at about 2:45 p.m., a fire was reported at the Save-A-Lot store on West Clay in St. Charles. The store had to be evacuated.

According to a store employee, the fire started in an ice cream cooler. The store was closed for the rest of the day. Management posted a sign on the door, which read, “Due to an electrical fire, we are temporarily closed! We apologize.”

A media contact for Save-A-Lot would only say that the store reopened for business today and “we continue to work with the proper authorities.”
