Highway 94 accident sends one to hospital

An accident on Highway 94 involving four vehicles Mon. afternoon sent one driver to the hospital.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, at about 2:30 p.m. on Highway 94 at Mid Rivers Mall Drive, Mark S. Olwig, 42, from St. Charles, made a left turn in a 1995 Toyota Camry into the path of a 1994 Saturn SL2 driven by Christopher W. Bates, 40, from St. Charles. Bates was unable to avoid the collision and struck the front of Olwig’s vehicle.
Bates’ vehicle then struck a 2001 Ford Taurus, driven by Matthew M. Land, 19, of St. Charles which caused Land’s vehicle to hit a 2000 Jeep Cherokee driven by Mark A. Murphy of Wentzville.
Bates, Land and Murphy were all wearing seat belts.
Olwig was taken, with minor injuries, to St. John’s Mercy in Creve Coeur. It is unknown whether Olwig was wearing a seat belt.
