Subject runs from police; falls from cliff

At about 9:00 p.m. on Thurs., April 29, Lake Saint Louis Police chased a male subject on foot behind “The Pub” when the subject scaled a fence near Days Inn and El Maguey Restaurant and fell approximately 50 feet over the cliff into Peruque Creek.

Access to the scene was difficult because of darkness, heavy brush and treacherous, wet ground. Police almost immediately handcuffed the man, who was bleeding from the head and complaining of facial pain.

A fire unit ladder and Stokes basket were considered for rescuing the subject. Instead, the subject was walked up the hill, on a backboard, and into an ambulance which took him to St. Joseph Hospital in St. Charles. The subject was rescued by 9:36 p.m.

An emergency services helicopter arrived to shed light on the area.
