Lake Saint Louis Police have been searching the area around Woodlands Marina after an incident at the nearby Cuivre River power substation.   Around 2 am a loud explosion was heard in Lake Saint Louis, as far away as the area near Boulevard Park.  Scanner reports were that a small fire had broken out in the power substation.

Police and fire units responded to the scene.  Police discovered the fence had been cut allowing access into the power station. A search was made of the vicinity, and the water patrol was called to assist with a search of the lake.  Police talked with a witness on Savoy Drive who reportedly heard an explosion.

Canine units were called to assist in the search, as well as units from the St. Charles County Sherriff’s Department.  The state fire marshal and ATF agents arrived at the scene to investigate, with the scene turned over to the ATF around 6:15.

In July of 2009, an unknown person entered the same substation and attempted to cause severe damage.
