Lori Drew’s attorney, Dean Steward, has filed a request in federal court for the phone records of a girl identified by the initials, “S.D.”

S.D. was one a few teenagers who had been posting messages to the MySpace page of the fictitious Josh Evans. Evans was a virtual character Drew is accused of helping create and post messages using his name.

Dardenne Prairie teenager, Megan Meier, engaged in communications with the fabricated Evans. The messages initially were friendly and then turned mean. The message, “The world would be a better place without you” was posted right before Meier hanged herself on Oct. 16, 2006.

Steward is asking for S.D.’s phone records to clarify who sent which messages.

According to Steward, Megan was mistakenly linked to a specific message, actually posted by S.D., to the page of Josh Evans.

The message in question reads, “Heyy babe!!! Call me sometime (*gives phone number) It’s the cell. I love you so much.”

Meier has been credited as the author of the above message even though S.D.’s e-mail address appeared on the post.

Steward has contacted S.D.’s relatives and confirmed her cell phone number.

Drew pleaded not guilty in May when a federal grand jury in Los Angeles indicted her on charges of conspiracy and accessing computers without authorization to get information used to inflict emotional distress.

Drew’s trial has been scheduled for Nov. 18 in Los Angeles (where MySpace servers reside).
