For the third consecutive year, Missouri’s largest skateboarding facility will serve as host to the local celebration of National Go Skateboarding Day. To celebrate the day, which began in 2004 to honor the growth of skateboarding, admission to St. Charles County’s Youth Activity Park on June 20 will be free (participants must have a completed activity waiver on file and all skating participants must wear a helmet).

Quickly developing into one of the region’s largest National Go Skateboarding Day celebrations, the YAP’s activities attract County residents and visitors from throughout the Metropolitan Area. At the first event, over 400 participated, and last year’s festivities attracted a crowd of more than 800 skaters and 600 spectators.

Taking place on the YAP’s 33,000 square-foot outdoor skate park—complete with street courses, trick rails, and bowls – National Go Skateboarding Day presents a great opportunity for skateboarders of all ages and skill levels to come together in a safe environment to enjoy their favorite sport. Open from 10 a.m. to midnight for this special event, the day’s festivities will include skate competitions, games and other surprises. Area skate shops (such as: SOKA Skate Shop, The Mill Skate Park and AMR Skate) and other organizations will host demonstrations and offer giveaways throughout the day. In addition, the first 500 guests under 14 will receive an ESPN X-Games Fingerboard to use on the park’s new 50 square-foot fingerboard skatepark display.

Along with the skate-themed events, several additional festivities will be offered. Local radio station KPNT (105.7 – The Point) will play music and broadcast live from 2 – 6 p.m. In addition, an inflatable bounce house, and slides will be offered for participants. Barbecued hamburgers and hot dogs will be available at the concessions area.
