Rock Creek Elementary student, Logan Ritchie, son of Michael and Christina Ritchie, was the winner of the district’s 24th Annual Spelling Bee that was held on February 7, 2011 at South High School.

This year’s district spelling bee was full of nervous tension with the final two students battling on their own from round 17 to round 37. The level of complexity surprised the audience, as well as the judges, who feared they would run out of words.

Siddharth Balaji from Pheasant Point Elementary, son of Balaji Govindhan and Vandana Anigolu and Grace Conrad from Progress South Elementary, daughter of Solomon and Jennifer Conrad finished in second and third place, respectively.

Thirteen elementary schools, each entering two contestants, made for an exciting event. Congratulations to all.
